A Cherokee Story of the Great Blue Heron as shared by bear Medicinewalker

blue heron little people

The Cherokee Little People live among us, in gardens, lush forests and woods, along our marshes. They live in harmony with nature. Enjoying life, and they love to play and laugh interacting with each other and sometimes the world around them. Every now and then however they do get bothered by occasional Winged Ones (birds) who can play havoc on village life. Because most often the Winged Ones (birds) are larger than the Little People and it causes them to worry that they might be mistaken for food.

One day in the day of our Ancestors, a Cherokee Hunter, whose name has long been forgotten, shared a gift with the Little People. He taught them how to craft little bows and arrows in order to defend themselves against birds and creatures of the outside world that meant them harm. They were very grateful to this friendly hunter and honored him with a great feast! Over the next hundred years the Cherokee Little People lived next to the marshes through out the countryside in harmony with the world around them.

One fine early summer day, a flock of Blue Herons came. The long legs of the Heron caused the arrows to fall short and they did not scare the Great Blue Herons away. The long beaks of the Great Blue Heron frightened the women and children and they fled, screaming into their homes at the sides of the marsh. However the tiny warriors stood their ground facing their fears they held for these enormous creatures. The Creator looked with admiration at how these Little Men were facing the challenge so bravely and using the skills they had been taught so long ago. So a punishment was chosen for Blue Heron as a result that they had terrorized the great nation of the Cherokee Little People.

This is the reason why the Blue Heron feeds alone and is never seen in flocks to this day. So as the Great Blue Heron steps into our lives it brings with it messages of self-reflection, and as it has to feed alone…so must we take the time for self in order to face fears, understand and use our gifts that we possess for the highest good, and be in harmony with our world for all is Sacred.

Heron medicine teaches us about the power of knowing ourselves so that we can discover our gifts and face life’s challenges. That we begin learning to accept all of our feelings and opinions, and accepting all the emotions and thoughts that accompany them. It is about following our intuition and taking that empowering step into self-realization.

This Sacred Water bird shares with us to not blame others or point a negative finger at the situations of life, instead claim responsibility for our own actions and to face the enemy within us all. Find a balance in our inner truths, work on our inner weaknesses, and develop the strengths needed to understand what it is we need to feed our own spiritual being. .

Insights and Thoughts Given to this bear During Prayer

earthsunrisetest02

A few years back someone verbally attacked the fact I had created crosses in my jewelry line, told me basically I disrespected them and my native roots and for what ever reason this came into my thoughts this day. As I sat during my morning prayers and thoughts I also thought of all the world religions. The conflicts that accompany them, mankind that try to control them and the people that follow them and the violence that has occurred in faith and Creator God’s name, in other words the “Man” in religion.

It is of my opinion that if someone connects to God Creator, a Higher Power by whatever name they label this connection with, if it is in positives if it is in following the basic teachings of Honesty, Truth, Love, Respect, Humility, Wisdom and Courage, or as I know them the Seven Grandfather Teachings… it is a good thing that is occurring.

In many cultures and societies, there are talismans and relics, symbols and ways to do so. Whether it is done with the assistance of a Cross or a Medicine Wheel has never made a difference to me. It is all about Faith, Faith in Self, Faith in the Higher power, I look to examples of Holy Men and Women of history, I look at the Visionaries, the Prophets and Peace Keepers and what do I see but the fact that all walked a path of Faith. They were often ridiculed, often made examples of in accordance to mankind’s perspective as they were often viewed as threats. For what was it they want? They are examples of free will and choice, of love and again the basic foundations that human kind should be following.

Greed and power is not what they sought, and this fact was present within all tribes, clans, societies and cultures. They nearly sought balance and love, love for all things Sacred… To help people find the same peace and balance, to appreciate the simple things in order to experience life in positives.

So for those of us that walk in the here and now while also stepping into the in between, life is at times a difficult path and yet it is what we have contracted to do. When experience all the negatives that the world can throw at us, we must remember to stand strong as our Ancestors did, we must allow the grace and dignity that has been bestowed to us to shine through. We must extend healing prayers, thoughts and insights to even more people like a small stone causing a ripple that goes wide on a pond or lake… no matter what place you are in or what color of skin you may have, what language you speak, or what label has been placed upon you… you need to remember we are here as Peace Keepers, Prophets of Positives and we must answer that call every moment of every day, we must stand and be that Rainbow Warrior of light and strength, honoring the Creator God, the Great Mother Earth and all that is Sacred.

For we all walk as one and we all walk with many Ancestors by our sides…and without us the world would be lost. Stay strong, stay in your Faith…and walk forward in knowing we do make a difference even if we touch but one persons soul this day.

Blessings to you all,

the Story of the Cherokee Rose as shared by bear Medicinewalker

38754_1553548359669_5973713_n
More than 100 years ago, the Cherokee people were driven from their home mountains when the white men discovered gold in the mountains of Tears. Some of the people came across Marengo County in West Alabama. It seems that after they had left the mountains, they came this far south so not have to climb more mountains.

It was early summer and very hot, and most of the time the people had to walk. Tempers were short and many times the soldiers were more like animal drivers than guides for the people. The men were so frustrated with the treatment of their women and children, and the soldiers were so harsh and frustrated that bad things often happened. When two men get angry they fight and once in a while men were killed on the trip. Many people died of much hardship. Much of the time the trip was hard and sad and the women wept for losing their homes and their dignity. The old men knew that they must do something to help the women not to lose their strength in weeping. They knew the women would have to be very strong if they were to help the children survive.

So one night after they had made camp along the Trail of Tears, the old men sitting around the dying campfire called up to the Creator to help the people in their trouble. They told Him that the people were suffering and feared that the little ones would not survive to rebuild the Cherokee Nation.

The Creator responded, “Yes, I have seen the sorrows of the women and I can help them to keep their strength to help the children. Tell the women in the morning to look back where their tears have fallen to the ground. I will cause to grow quickly a plant. They will see a little green plant at first with a stem growing up. It will grow up and up and fall back down to touch the ground where another stem will begin to grow. I’ll make the plant grow so fast at first that by afternoon they’ll see a white rose, a beautiful blossom with five petals. In the center of the rose, I will put a pile of gold to remind them of the gold which the white man wanted when his greed drove the Cherokee from their ancestral home.”

The Creator said that the green leaves will have seven leaflets, one for each of the seven clans of the Cherokee. The plant will begin to spread out all over, a very strong plant, a plant which will grow in large, strong clumps and it will take back some of the land they had lost. It will have stickers on every stem to protect it from anything that tries to move it away.

The next morning the old men told the women to look back for the sign from the Creator. The women saw the plant beginning as a tiny shoot and growing up and up until it spread out over the land. They watched as a blossom formed, so beautiful they forgot to weep and they felt beautiful and strong. By the afternoon they saw many white blossoms as far as they could see. The women began to think about their strength given them to bring up their children as the new Cherokee Nation. They knew the plant marked the path of the brutal Trail of Tears. The Cherokee women saw that the Cherokee Rose was strong enough to take back much of the land of their people.

Spiritual and Totem Insights for the Day – the White Buffalo

card 38 White Buffalo 1122

White Buffalo brings us the Gift of Promise with it today as it drops from the deck, Promise that was made long ago between the Creator and the people. We are reminded to hold all things as Sacred, to walk with the 7 Teachings of the Grandfathers, which also provides us with the strong foundation for us as Humans to build upon. We All have been given the gift of choice, to walk in positives or to walk in the world of shadow and negatives. Make no mistake we are the ones doing the choosing, no one else.

So this morning the White Buffalo encourages us all to stop and listen to the echo of our soul so that we may understand it is never too late to change our paths… our walk… our way of life. We simply must return to those fundamentals that ALL our Ancestors left us… Respect, Wisdom, Love, Trust, Courage, Truth, Honesty and Humility.

White Buffalo shares with us that it is time to honor all that is sacred in and around us. It is about the power of Prayer. It is time to feed our souls, our spirituality. That in order to allow abundance into our lives we must walk the Sacred Path, but also be open to the fact that all life, all that has been shared with us no matter how small …how large, is Sacred.

The White Buffalo is connected to the teachings of the original people, the things that often are forgotten by us in this modern day world that is filled with material and greed. The White Buffalo warns us and gently nudges to remind us that we must not forget to be grateful, thankful, and take care of our Sacred Hoops.

To talk to the Universe and God Creator often, to share with others the simple positive things such as prayer, ritual, ceremony, traditions. To slow down so that we do not forget the lessons of old and where it is we come from. When we honor that process we will assist in manifesting our dreams, our goals in a more positive light. White buffalo will help to keep us grounded and on the right walk, allowing us to realize that when we are walking correctly the path is much easier to move upon.

Honor Self, Honor Creator, Honor All Life as Sacred.

Spiritual and Totem Insights for the Day – the Moose

width="800"
MOOSE! Yup you heard me… Moose and not the chocolate yummy kind, the Four Legged Large and in charge kind the Moose stops in today reminding us of Life and the inner Strengths that each and everyone of us has deep down in our Soul’s. Moose is all about listening to our instinct and remaining in balance when using our strength, for sometimes situations call for gentle strength and at other times it calls on us to be fierce! They remind us to look to our Elders, our Wise ones in and around our Sacred Hoops for advice and perspective.

As large as Moose are they are still graceful in movement, stealth and quick when called for. That is a huge lesson for us to learn as we walk the Human. It isn’t always about being first, or always thinking that our way is the only way… it is about honoring and respecting all points of view and then choosing the most positive for you. Knowing our Soul’s true purpose is to walk in positives and experience life itself. Moose tells us to be proud of who we are as individuals and let no one tell you that you are less than.

Moose encourages us to be true to ourselves and who we are… Self Love is one of the hardest things to attain for many, so get your bootstraps, pull them up and walk proudly for who you are and remember it isn’t about ego, it isn’t about what others see in us… it is about balance and pride in the positives we are able to step forward in.

Spiritual and Totem Insights for the Day – Crocodile

card 1 crocodile 1122
Crocodile stops in to day and yells…”Toughen up cupcakes, time to put on some thicker skins and stop letting the little stuff irritate you.” Lately as Humans, we have allowed ourselves to be sucked in and down under the muck. We thrive on gossip, negativity and promote people who behave badly. Seriously who cares about what some celebrity is doing or not doing?

Time to begin listening with our hearts again, to remember how things should be…that it is okay to hug each other without calling the police, to speak and communicate with each other in a respectful and understanding manner. To stop outside bias from interfering from us behaving as good people…. So dig deep folks… and think about what your mind will digest before swallowing those negatives that are spewed about!

The Crocodile is one of the oldest creatures and has been around for ions. The wisdom and survival skill it has taken for them to live through centuries of change is something we should look closely at as they are here to teach us as human as well. Crocodile teaches us sometimes we need to reach deep within to our primal energy, things that are instinctive to move through our paths. It speaks to us of our breathing patterns to take time to take that deep breath in order to bring balance to our minds and bodies.

Crocodile is a protector and keeper of All Knowledge. So it is time to tap into what it is we need in order to inspire, manifest and walk our dreams and ambitions. Remember patience and to allow yourself time to adapt to change that may show up in your life at this time. It is a time of growth and regeneration. It is time to expand and use what you instinctively know for emotional healing, for self and perhaps even to those that you may encounter in your days.

Crocodile speaks to knowing when to roll with what life throws at us, when to show patience, when to dig deep and when it is time to wallow in mud to allow healing and regeneration, transformation to bring about healing and a new part to our journeys.  Honor your soul’s journey, from other lifetimes into our current path and continuing on as we gather energies and knowledge moving forward in positives to experience life in many forms.
