the Wolf as a Teacher and Totem

Wolf is a very organized creature. It understands there is need for order and balance for harmony to occur with our Sacred Hoops. Wolf is regarded as one of the most powerful spirit guides of all for it represents teacher and lessons to be learned and shared with self. It speaks to us to seek counsel from people that you respect. To take a moment to step back and look for the true meaning from the issue you face. By doing so, you will be able to walk clearly ahead and do what needs to be done with the knowledge you can see it all clearly.

Although many think the site of a lone Wolf means freedom but it does not. It instead represents that it is a time to look deep in oneself and find the balance that is needed in your own life that is lacking. For the wolf is meant to be in packs, in a community, in a family, with its mate. The times you see wolves on their own or isolated is do to unbalance that needs to reground and once again be in the circle of the Sacred Hoop.

The Wolf cry reminds us to stand our ground, remember we all need boundaries. It is about communication, answering the call and listening to the response. The Wolf an assist us to open and listen to the sound of others in order to understand better the situation. It is about having the strength of the pack, and your closest friends with you when you need them without questions.

Wolf is strongly connected to lunar cycles, so learn to move with that cycle and honor it in order to be at your best. They teach us to weed out what is the weakest and no longer serves us, so that new and better things will come our way.

Let’s Talk About Parrots and What They Teach Us

Parrot’s bring many amazing teachings with them and today’s is also about loving self and opening our hearts to others. We all have purpose and even though those purposes may be different it does not mean they are not also important to the way the world functions. So today take it all in and enjoy learning about the differences and how they an positively impact us in new and fun ways! Enjoy!!!!

So today the Parrot tells us to use our voice, our communication to reach out and learn how, remember how, feel how to be human again! My dear friends Robin and Vince Cesario have a beautiful Sun Conure Parrot… and actually the painting of JoJo is where this card was created from…and this little bird has a great lesson and that is LOVE. He is so filled with love for his human family! If only as humans we could remember that each moment of each day and set aside the ugly in our world to reconnect with the good that is in each of us.

Parrot wants us to remember is that actions, deeds, words are mimicked by those around you. What we often fail to remember is that we are responsible for setting the tone or mood for the world around us. If we are confident and pleasant… things will reflect that in our daily walks. If we are negative and bitter our world becomes shaded and chaotic… full of negatives that spread like a disease. So be mindful of the imprints we all leave on the world around us today, and be a more positive part of it not only for yourself but for others as well.

Parrot assists us in seeing that possibilities are endless as we walk the human. Sharing with us that we need to open ourselves up and communicate with the world around us. The Parrot teaches us to look at situations and opinions that are different than yours. It is all about hearing what we are listening to so that we may learn what we can accomplish, what we are capable of. To go outside of our boundaries of what we may right now consider normal. Because different, extraordinary may just be our New Normal!

Parrot brings us reminders about what is in the power of Father Sun and the healing energy that is offered. They share with us the understanding that will help balance and find harmony with all life around us. Aligning our Sacred Hoops with the pure joy and magic of all things possible.

I am bear Medicinewalker and I am dedicated to Educating and sharing the lessons, teachings and culture I have been taught by my Elders and journey with the World. It is not enough merely to learn the ways of our Elders. We must honor those traditions by sharing and educating the World. Inspiring others …Inspiring our Youth. The Story of Why the Raven is Black…

This was shared to me by an Elder who asked me if I knew how the Raven became black. since my response was no this is what “Corky” Black Elk Shared with me…and now in turn I share with you..

Long ago, during the very beginning of the world, Gray Eagle was the guardian of the sun, the moon, the stars, fresh water and fire. Gray Eagle hated people so much that he kept these things hidden. The peoples lived in darkness, without fire and without fresh water.

Gray Eagle also had a beautiful daughter, and when Raven saw her he instantly fell in love with her. At that time Raven was a handsome young man so he came up with a plan to change himself into a snow-white bird. As the snow-white bird he pleased Gray Eagle’s daughter and soon she fell madly in love with him. So much so that she invited him to her father’s lodge.

Raven was surprised when he he entered the lodge for he saw the sun ,the moon, the stars and the fresh water hanging on the sides of Gray Eagle’s lodge walls, he knew instantly what he should do, what he had to do. So carefully watching for his chance to seize them when no one was looking, Raven stole all of them along with a spark of fire. Then he flew upward and out of the lodge through a smoke hole above.

As soon as Raven got outside, he hung the sun up in the sky. It created so much light that he was able to fly far out to an island in the middle of the ocean. As soon as the sun set, he fastened the moon up in the sky and hung the stars around in different places. With the moonlight there to help guide him, he continued to fly carrying with him the fresh water and the spark of fire he had stolen. Soon the water fell to the ground and there it became the source of all the freshwater streams and lakes around the world.

Still the Raven flew on holding in his mouth the spark of fire. The smoke from the fire blowing back over his white feathers coating them black. Soon his bill began to burn and he had to drop the fire spark. When it landed and struck the rocks below, it sparked brighter and created fire. That is why even today if you strike two stones together with a stick, it will spark and fire will burn and share its warmth and glow.

Raven’s feathers never became white again after they were blackened by the smoke from carrying the spark of fire.  This is why today the Raven is a black bird.

Some Thoughts from an Old bear

So yesterday I messaged with a friend of mine and we talked of a few things, but there was one important message that Spirit wanted me to share and it’s an important one. To Quote Spirit, “Remember when health issues change for us, when we loose a person that transitions to the Spiritlands, our lifestyles change, we need to remember to grieve, mourn in our own time. Most importantly we must grieve the person we were before these changes occurred in our lives”.

Depression is an easy out for all of us when things don’t go well for us. But if we actually stop and take a deep look into self, we will find that was once before still exists as it is imprinted on our very souls. It makes sense as most of us put ourselves last with everything, because that is who we were taught to be. But how is that right? If we can’t care for ourselves in the proper way, how is it then we are available for others support?

No matter what it happens we need to honor how it effects us. This is something I am working through currently. I am a flawed human who’s body is saying, “Yeah no bear, you can’t do it that way anymore”. So of course me being me, I struggled. When I finally sat and listened, I finally understood I will never have the body I had in days gone by. This is the new version, and like it or not we have to come to terms with it all. At that point, that singular point of understanding, we open to what can be.

For me it was pretty simple, I am here to assist, create, be teacher and student, work with what Creator God has shared with us all on the Great Mother Earth. So as my dear friend Kerry Greenaway works with crystals something I have worked so much with in my past, it has once again reminded me of who they speak to us if we open to hear them. Many purposes and points for Healing. I have slowly worked into creating again. Many have stepped up in the Spiritlands to guide me to where I need to be and what I need to be doing.

We all have the capability to do this, I just don’t think we think of it. But as we work through it and really come to understand this is the new version of self… it is who we need to be… we can accomplish anything we set our minds to do/be. With that might even come the fact we need to ask for help from others. Which is so true. Today I needed help getting something moved. Pondered for two days cause the old me would just do it no matter what. The new me however needed to ask for assistance. I did and it was resolved in a few moments. The person that helped me said, “For cripes sake bear, just ask me. No worries. You have helped us so many times, no worries”.

SO what was my problem? My ego had stepped up and blocked me for asking for help… but as I tell others all the time, if we need help ask! SO my own lesson came back to bite me in the butt. So I have been humbled and learned, grown, just because I have to remember who I am now not who I was in times past.

So learn from my mistakes and the advice that come from the Spiritlands… Mourn, grieve for self so we can heal and move once again accepting all that we are. A flawed Human that is walking in the best version of yourself.

Spiritual and Totem Insights Tobacco

So today the card that drops in the seventh spot is Tobacco! Today is about the Blessings we receive and more importantly the Blessings we share. Yes you read that correctly, the Blessings we share with others. In order to attain balance in our lives we must always remember the balance is all about giving to the life around us.

We continually take from the Great Mother Earth and she gives freely. But we must also return her Blessings for looking out for the next seven generations to come. Tobacco is a way that many cultures use as offering the thanks for all we have in our lives, and sometimes we simply have to make ourselves a little more aware. We all need to focus on the positives and stop feeding the negatives. Why waist the energy?

This is something I have actually watched as it expands. People constantly sniping at others that have made negative remarks, acted in a negative way… and yet what people often do is to respond negatively back. Thus we are wasting energy and feeding the negatives. Ignore them and save the energy for something more worthy. I say this because feeding the negatives cause us to go sorta dark, or depressed, angry and leads us to put out more negatives. Just let it go it is not worth spending your energy, it’s a waste that depletes positives from our lives in acting out towards negativity..

Tobacco works with our minds, in order to clear the negative thoughts and replace them with thanks for all the blessings in our lives.

Tobacco is the sacred herb of the East, the direction of Grandfather Sun, Eagle, and the Creator. We send our prayers up in its smoke, and Eagle takes them to the Creator. Tobacco is sacred, therefore it is to be respected and comes with responsibility to use it properly. It is both a powerful tool of healing and honoring our spirit and our Ancestors that walked before us.

The Anishinaabe use a form of Tobacco known as kinikinik, or a red willow mix. Because it opens the door to the Creator, When Tobacco is used to make smoke, it is one of the most sacred of plants for Native people. Tobacco is also one of the four sacred plants. It represents the Eastern Direction and the mind.

The Elders say that tobacco is used to connect the Spirit World as the plant’s very roots penetrate deeply into the the Great Mother Earth, and its smoke rises high into the sky to reach the Creator’s gaze. This plant is highly respected and highly honored. The gifting of tobacco is a beautiful way the people show respect and honor to others. Ceremonies using tobacco invokes a connection to universal energies and to the Creator, a connection made between earthly and spiritual realms is to be considered sacred.

Prayer, Offerings, Purification and Respect… remember these for meanings as you use the Sacred Tobacco plant.

Blessings of the Day and Beyond to you All!

Spiritual and Totem Insights the Cow

The Cow shows up in the seventh spot today!

Today as Monday unfolds we need to look and be aware of all that is around us, so that we can nurture what is inside of us. The outside chaos can settle in and become part of us quicker than a blink of an eye… but how we process and choose how it may affect us is totally up to us. Outside influence can be totally out of our immediate control, but how and when we respond is not. So respond with gentle kindness to your souls, add prayer and thoughtfulness. Prayer is a powerful thing as many can attest to…but it is about the power and strength in numbers. Heal thy selves, strengthen ourselves, make ourselves aware of where and how we step on our paths.

Understand we can not cure disease in a day, we can not build houses in a day, we can not bring peace in a day. However we can begin the process to heal, begin to solve, imprint the idea, start with one person, one part, one thought, one prayer… a moment that can ignite change that begins at our doorway, from our souls.

With that said we look as Cow steps into the day to teach us about nurturing, self growth and awareness. They share with us their own life force in order to assist us in the highest good. They teach us about patience, nourishment, abundance, the fertility of ideas and the birth of goals and dreams. The Cow shares with us to be calm with our young, to stay grounded, help in providing what is needed in the moment without thought and beginnings.

Cow also tells us to stand our ground when we need to but be firm yet gentle in the process. Take a look at our life and see if perhaps we are being as productive as we should, or perhaps are we being too being stubborn about an issue.

Understand and work with the mundane aspects of the relationships we have in our Sacred Hoops and understand that sometimes we need the mundane, the normal routine in order to enjoy or be able to work through what is not.

Cows are said to possess the magic of the moon, Pay close attention to what is being shared. Trust your instincts; they will alert you to danger or safety of the situations we face.

Spiritual and Totem Insights Earth

So today the Earth card drops in the seventh spot, speaking to the balance required to stay in a good place on our path today. Set Judgement aside, for although we think we do we do not have the right to judge. Instead take a long look in the mirror at self, be happy with the good things and see what you have to work on to be better. Step into that today. Remember to not add negatives to things, people that are all ready standing in and spreading negatives. Instead of feeding that and continuing to make an already dark place darker.

Spirit is not saying that is going to be easy, but you will feel better if that’s the agenda you push today! Earth Mother provides all we need to stay to our walk as human!

Earth is not interested about what affects us, but rather teaches us to learn how to interact and balance with all that is Sacred.  How we go about honoring that precious balance of our Sacred Hoops and that of the larger complete Circle… life. It is whispering for us all to understand how everything inter relates to every living and breathing thing here on the Great Mother. From the smallest creature to the largest tree that stands on the tallest mountain that has the clearest water running down its sides in order to replenish the Earth.

Earth speaks to the understanding of the Medicine Wheel, as a foundation to how we build our lives and walk it. It teaches us our strengths and weaknesses. Earth shows us that sometimes no matter what is going on around us we need to center and ground our souls, allowing the energy to move us in positives. To fill our beings with what has been provided to us, simply understanding that all we need has been shared… we do not own it… but rather have been given the gift of caring for… Not only the earth we stand on …but the human form we dwell in.

Earth teaches us to stand tall as the Redwoods… as dignified as the Mountains…to learn to flow as the rivers and waters of the Earth…gently some times and at others as a raging storm. whatever it may be…honor the Sacred, observe the lessons of the creatures that walk the planet… And most of all be thankful for all we have been given in order to walk our human.

“I am Dedicated to Educating and sharing Culture with the World. It is not enough merely to teach the ways of our Elders. We must honor those traditions by sharing and educating the World. Inspiring others …Inspiring our Youth. Through the Music… the Arts…the stories…”
