October 19, 2015 Totem Card of the Day – Gull

card 21 gull 1122

“There must be a pony there somewhere”… is something my Grandfather told me often as I grew up, and I would look at him and say in my 7 year old voice, “I don’t get it, I do not see any ponies Grandpa.” He then looked back at me and told me about how even though manure smells bad it can be used as fertilizer and help things to grow. It means even in the not so pleasant things in life, we can find the good under it all. That is what the day brings with it today! Look through the outer layers of things, dig a little deeper to see true meanings, true potentials and the true beauty of life that we share. Listen to the call of the Gull and what it teaches us!

The Gull is an amazing bird that most disregard as having purpose. Yet to understand the Gull is to respect and appreciate the bird as quite impressive. The Gull teaches us survival mode, which some situations may require us to deal with even in bad conditions or unpleasant ones in order to reach our true goals, our true dreams.

Gulls teach us to pay attention to Nature, and alert us to brewing storms that may be entering our lives. They are warriors sent by the Creator to cleanse negativity away allowing the positives to return and balance.

Gull talks about communication and how it is important to sometimes open those lines of communication in responsible ways. They also teach us to look deep at the magical world around us, for all we need is at our fingertips or deep within our souls to be able to move through in positives on our human walk.

Working with both the elementals of Earth, Air and Water, they also teach us to be adaptable and sometimes we are called to behave and act differently under varied situations. This is okay and part of our learning how to communicate better with others and the world around us. Or perhaps they are showing us areas that we need to clean up in our own lives so that we can meet our full potential.

a Medicine Wheel Teaching… the Sign of the Snake

Medicine-Wheel Teaching Snake

It is time to begin the teachings of the Medicine Wheel. I have been asked over and over about them, so as I have been taught I will now share those teachings with you. Please know that there are various interpretations of the teachings, but what I share is what I have been taught by my Teachers and my Elders over the years. So let us begin this journey as we prepare to enter into the time of the Snake, the Time of Frost as it sits on the Medicine Wheel beginning October 23rd thru November 22.

Being born at this time puts you into the Snake/the Time of Frost with the main influencing wind being the West Winds! The Totem that walks with this birth sign is that of the Grizzly Bear, it rests within the Frog Clan. The polarity totem that shares balance for the snake is the Beaver.

The Plant Totem for Snake is Thistle.
Thistle was used by our Ancestor’s and Tribal communities as a cure for stomach and digestive ailments and also against various poisons very effectively. Now a day, people look at thistle mostly as expensive bird seed. The plant itself grows very thick and dense in the wild and has beautiful purple flowers that rest at the top of the plant. It protects itself with prickly leaves along the plant that often can cause you to itch if you are not careful when harvesting the plant. Thistle is also full of vitamins, and the root of the plant when peeled can be eaten raw or even roasted. Also the leaves can make a wonderful medicinal tea after drying the leaves.

Like the thistle, Snake people also have protection that does not allow many to get too close to them, thus hiding who their true self really is. Because they often feel vulnerable, they will tend to keep people at arms length on order to feel more in control and safe.

The Mineral/Crystal is Amethyst.
Amethyst the Healers Stone! One of the most powerful crystals you can work with. Calming, healing, protecting and it enhances psychic abilities and spiritual awareness.

The Snake’s Affinity color is Violet.
Violet is the color of Spirituality and Healing. It relates to spiritual awareness the relationship and union with our higher self and a higher consciousness.

Elements that influence Snake as born to the Time of the Frost are Water and Earth. Earth providing the things needed for transformation, and transforming through change and into renewal of self and spiritual balance is how their lives are traveled.  Water assisting with the flow and rejuvenation of the soul!

Snake People are Intense, Impulsive, Determined, Ambitious and are often Mysterious in nature. They typically keep their true feelings hidden under layers upon layers of self.

Relationship compatibilities are best with those born under the signs of the Woodpecker or that of the Wolf.

Their Life Path is to seek and bring about sensitivity to their lives, as it is something they enter the world lacking and as they walk this path they unconsciously seek a spiritual union or soul mate that they feel they can not do without.

Being born during the Time of Frost, ideas, creativity and the energy that goes with bringing these things about are first and fore most on their minds. Yet sometimes that same energy gets them going in many directions instead of one at a time in order to finish the goals that are set. Then they find themselves at a halt or ‘Frozen’ with which direction to take next.

This is part of the learning curve they need to learn. To slow down and perhaps put some things aside in order to accomplish a task in a more positive and complete way. Timing comes into play as the lesson they are here to learn and cultivate. People born to the sign of the Snake need to find patience in life, and often have a difficult time mastering just that.

Being of the Frog Clan they are easily carried away as I put it, new and shiny things! They want to experience everything and leave no rock unturned. They are very capable of adding new insights to projects, life and ideas, but often do not stay long enough with it to actually receive any benefits from the experience, for they are quick to run off on the next adventure!

Snake people are people that are extreme in most things they do in their lives. They can for sudden attachments to people or things and then just as suddenly detach from them with out a blink.

Snake people crave attention and actually need it to feel good about themselves, and they need to be shown love in order to love in return. When that occurs love is all consuming and they are true and supportive of their partners but sometimes wind up loosing themselves in the relationship since they put their partner’s happiness above all else.

Best times of the year for people born to the Sign of the Snake the Time of Frost are October 23rd thru November 22
February 19th thru April 19th
June 21st thru July 21st

Tuesdays are the strongest day of the week when they can accomplish much.

5:00 a.m. – 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. best time of the day to accomplish thing

I hope you have enjoyed these insights and may they inspire you to look more into the Medicine Wheel teachings and how they can assist us all to bring balance to our Sacred Hoops! And make sure to add yourself to the mailing list if you are interested in learning more about the totems and the Medicine Wheel!

October 16, 2015 Totem Card of the Day – Snake

card 33 Snake 1122

Snake Is a difficult teacher at times, and one that is not easy to master. Lessons that Snake brings with it are of life cycles and change, remembering as we grow we shed and transform into new energies and new experiences. Snake also teaches us about poison and that we need to be able to rid ourselves of the toxins can be placed within our Sacred Hoops. Don’t let the poisons kill us

Snake can be a hard teacher. His lessons involve a transmutation of the cycle of life, death and rebirth. Snake symbolizes this cycle with the shedding of his skin. We learn to the whole energy of life, the cosmic consciousness and have the willingness to experience anything without resistance. It is also about the poisons that we might take in. Those poisons can be eaten or ingested in some way but they also may be integrated into our lives. The goal is to not let the poisons taint our body or spirit.

Since Snakes can shed they teach us about the levels of our human, of our spirituality, our experiences. It is time to seek our inner knowledge before moving ahead with decisions. It is time to coil and go within to make sure we are well prepared before we strike out.

Snake also reminds us as it makes its way across the Great Mother Earth, to ground ourselves, to use our energy wisely and not to rely on primal instincts of lashing out. For at times it is more empowering to hold back and use that knowledge that energy in wise ways. At other times it is best to strike and seize the moment with a precision and quickness. Snakes often retreat long before biting defensively because they sense that it may cause consequences/damage to others and drain you of healing energy.

Snake is also very old and powerful healing medicine. Once harnessed, Snake will help you to position yourself carefully so that you will trust your gut when making important decisions.

October 13, 2015 Totem Card of the Day – Clown Fish

card 55 clown-fish
So today is a day to play and dance, to re-energize your souls! Look to those in and about your Sacred Hoops and seek to understand the positive workings of those relationships….We sometimes depend on others to have our backs and to have that and know it works is to understand the interactions between the world around us. So Rejoice in those connections…for if we nurture them they will assist us in keeping more balanced and positive in our daily steps!

The Clown Fish and Anemone fish share their spiritual guidance with us to assist us in finding and understanding wisdom, knowledge and teachings that can will help us to overcome the challenges that we face in life.

The Sea Anemone is known as the flower of the ocean, yet has deadly thorns, yet the Clown fish fearlessly takes refuge within her grasp. Bright and vibrant in appearance the Clown Fish is widely known for its bright orange/yellow coloration and bright white stripes. Together they are a formidable pair with the use of beauty as camouflage they teach us the ability to hide within dangerous situations and to move carefully through our lives.

They teach us that things can appear as one thing and be something totally different. Do not be quick to jump to assuming the worst and make sure to watch for hidden obstacles and dangers as you tread through a given situation.

They assist us with keeping safe from negativity. None of us are danger proof. All of us are prone to encounter difficult situations that we should/could avoid. Sometimes it is better to move to a safe position than directly confronting something. It doesn’t show weakness, quite the opposite it shows strength of character and wisdom.

The Cherokee Rose…as shared by bear Medicinewalker

cherokee rose post

As it was shared to me I now share with you…The Cherokee Rose

More than 100 years ago, the Cherokee people were driven from their home mountains when the white men discovered gold in the mountains of Tears. Some of the people came across Marengo County in West Alabama. It seems that after they had left the mountains, they came this far south so not have to climb more mountains.

It was early summer and very hot, and most of the time the people had to walk. Tempers were short and many times the soldiers were more like animal drivers than guides for the people. The men were so frustrated with the treatment of their women and children, and the soldiers were so harsh and frustrated that bad things often happened. When two men get angry they fight and once in a while men were killed on the trip. Many people died of much hardship. Much of the time the trip was hard and sad and the women wept for losing their homes and their dignity. The old men knew that they must do something to help the women not to lose their strength in weeping. They knew the women would have to be very strong if they were to help the children survive.

So one night after they had made camp along the Trail of Tears, the old men sitting around the dying campfire called up to the Creator in Galunati (heaven) to help the people in their trouble. They told Him that the people were suffering and feared that the little ones would not survive to rebuild the Cherokee Nation.

The Creator replied to them, “Yes, I have seen the sorrows of the women and I can help them to keep their strength to help the children. Tell the women in the morning to look back where their tears have fallen to the ground. I will cause to grow quickly a plant. They will see a little green plant at first with a stem growing up. It will grow up and up and fall back down to touch the ground where another stem will begin to grow. I’ll make the plant grow so fast at first that by afternoon they’ll see a white rose, a beautiful blossom with five petals. In the center of the rose, I will put a pile of gold to remind them of the gold which the white man wanted when his greed drove the Cherokee from their ancestral home.”

The Creator continued to explain that the green leaves would have seven leaflets, one for each of the seven clans of the Cherokee. The plant would then begin to spread out all over the land for like the people the plant would be strong and resilient. It would grow into large and almost bush like taking back and rooting into some of the land that they had lost. It will have stickers on every stem to protect it from anything that tries to move it away.

The next morning the old men told the women to look back for the sign from the Great One. The women saw the plant beginning as a tiny shoot and growing up and up until it spread out over the land. They watched as a blossom formed, so beautiful they forgot to weep and they felt beautiful and strong. By the afternoon they saw many white blossoms as far as they could see. The women began to think about their strength given them to bring up their children as the new Cherokee Nation. They knew the plant marked the path of the brutal Trail of Tears. The Cherokee women saw that the Cherokee Rose was strong enough to take back much of the land of their people.

Card of the Day October 8, 2015 – Swan

card 30 Swan

We need to open to the possibilities, expand our views into not what is comfortable but what is necessary and needed! yes change can be scary, but when that little voice inside is pushing and encouraging you to step outside of the box and take a different approach, perhaps that is an indicator that we need to learn and experience new things. That little voice we are hearing is the echo from our own soul telling us how amazing life can be if we let it.

Swan shows up when it is time for your intuitive self to open to the world. Swan will teach us how to not only do that, but to accomplish it with grace and precision. It tells us to listen to that inner voice, to trust your gut and follow how it guides you. It is all about how you need to allow yourself to move with life around you by coexisting with all that is Sacred.

Swan tells you to breathe it all in and become one with the world we live in. Become one with it so that we may gain access to the knowledge that each part of it shares with us at every moment.

It gives us lessons that at times we need to allow ourselves to look in the mirror deep into our souls and be kind and gentle. To accept that beauty comes in many forms and we as individuals are beautiful beings that are an important part of this crazy place we live in. Positives, we all have the ability to view it if we let ourselves. Be comfortable in who you are, accepting who you are, loving who you are.

Swan shows us how to heal self and others, for we hold the key to transform pain and heartbreak into something beautiful… Share your story with others, set the example for people to follow. Embrace the good in all and nurture the young spirit that resides in each of us.

September 24, 2015 Card of the Day – Orca

card 29 orca 1122
The Ancient Ones are calling out for us to look within, to see truths and not lie to oneself… for we are responsible for how we act, think and behave. And although it is great to say we will look in the reflection of self to see truths of how we walk, it is quite another thing to be brutally honest about it and accept our short comings and how they effect others within and around our lives.

So it is time to strip away the falsehoods we put up, take the blinders off and be honest with ourselves. We need this action in order to move ahead and release those negative tendencies and move into a more positive way of life. It is an intense emotional time right now, with the Full Blood Moon preparing to rise in the skies on September 28, 2015, so allow the emotions to flow and cleanse the soul, strengthen your hoops by embracing changes that will help us to be better to others and mostly to be better to ourselves.

Orca
Orca is one of the most revered of the ancient Ones who swim and protect our Waters. Their songs speak to us of healing from deep within our souls. Listen as they begin calling in positive vibrations of thought and sound. Orca’s guide us through the depths of our own emotions allowing us to explore and mend self more effortlessly by moving with the waves of life, rather than against. They help us access the Ancestor’s knowledge that is buried deep within our own DNA that is the key to all that is Sacred.

We are being called to search our souls, for looking inward is the only way that we can move forward in positive motions at this time. Orca will help us to understand self and give us a clear view to set our intention of what is needed in the situation for the highest good.

Orca will guide and help us to confront our emotions that are out of control by making connections that are needed between our conscious and subconscious to bring about the balance we need in our Sacred Hoops.
