Spiritual and Totem Insights for the Day the Squirrel

So who popped up in the cards this morning but the playful and ever persistence Squirrel! The Squirrel shares the importance of stockpiling and filling our life with the things we will need emotionally as well as physically, not only in the moment but in the days and times ahead.

Chaotic times means that more often than not we are scattered and running on empty, so we need to stop and take a breath before stepping into the next part of the day. Or as the Squirrel often does as it gathers its stores for the winter months, we will lose focus, lose our way to the goals we have set and like the squirrel won’t be able to find what we set aside for positive movement and nourishment to our soul. Thus the statement stop being a Squirrel! Hahahahhahaha Okay but seriously now stick to the task at hand and do not loose your focus today so that your efforts will not be in vain. We need to stay balanced, resourceful staying on course as we wrangle through the obstacles of the day!

Squirrel shows up to remind us we need to also balance our lives and have a little fun. We often get so caught up in life we forget to stop and breathe let alone relax and have a little fun in the process. We need to learn to not take life so seriously all the time. Work has it’s place in our life…but so does fun and enjoyment, and each of our souls need to be fed in order to be healthy.

Of course Squirrel also is there to remind us that playtime is not all the time. They remind us to be prepared and structured so that we are able to play at the end of the day! (No pun intended) But don’t over do it and use all that energy and positive vibe that you collected and managed to store up.

Squirrel also reminds us to take a look at our life and get rid of the clutter that has collected, whether it be actual stuff or emotional baggage. Deal with it and get rid of it, what good is it doing you other than adding stress to our life? The past needs to remain in the past… deal with it and let it go!

On the negative side of things, Squirrel can be easy targets and when they are they are trying to play catch up or trying to fit in making our selves into someone we are not … then we wind up spent on the side of the road. That is a high cost to pay and should be avoided.

Spiritual and Totem Insights of the Day White Buffalo

So today the Sacred White Buffalo comes to share insights with us all. When did it all start… The racial divides, the bigotry, the bullying, the hate… where did people begin to feel the right of superiority over others in matters of religion, family and social connections or other people lives for that matter? When did it begin? Since recorded time man has felt the need to dominate due to financial status, health, education and yes even religion. But here is the thing… is it smart to base a persons worth based on those things? And who gives any of us the right to make that kind of judgement?

All people sacrifice in some way to make it better for those who walk after them, there is always some kind of contribution to humanity. Yet today humans forget that fact. Don’t quote me religious or racial facts, for ALL races of man and ALL religions have been engaged in some form of destruction of the Sacred that we all are entitled to walk with. And that my friends as the White Buffalo stands its’ ground within the Sacred strong and reminding us of the sacrifice of the fallen men, women and children of the centuries is why and how we are all able to walk this planet today.

So Honor the Ancestors and loved Ones that have walked before us. Wake up and understand that if we are standing in a pile of shit, it is because we have placed it there ourselves. No one else is to blame, we choose what comes into our Sacred Hoops… so be conscious of what we are doing, what choices we are making and what steps we are walking.

People ask … What can we do to bring about Balance and Positive to our Lives again? The Answer is simple, remember the teachings… Honor, Humility, Love, Wisdom, Respect, Honesty and Courage. Speak with the Creator…not only when you are in need but as you go about your day. and be thankful for what you receive. Keep it simple. Keep it all in perspective. Set your goals and stick to them, manifestation is there for you if you only stat on that path and believe in yourself and the powers that will assist you to make the world better for yourself and life in general. You are All Blessed… a fact that you often forget. It is time to Awaken!

White Buffalo shares with us that it is time to honor all that is sacred in and around us. It is about the power of Prayer. It is time to feed our souls, our spirituality. That in order to allow abundance into our lives we must walk the Sacred Path, but also be open to the fact that all life, all that has been shared with us no matter how small …how large, is Sacred.

The White Buffalo is connected to the teachings of the original people, the things that often are forgotten by us in this modern day world that is filled with material and greed. The White Buffalo warns us and gently nudges to remind us that we must not forget to be grateful, thankful, and take care of our Sacred Hoops.

To talk to the Universe and God Creator often, to share with others the simple positive things such as prayer, ritual, ceremony, traditions. To slow down so that we do not forget the lessons of old and where it is we come from. When we honor that process we will assist in manifesting our dreams, our goals in a more positive light. White buffalo will help to keep us grounded and on the right walk, allowing us to realize that when we are walking correctly the path is much easier to move upon.

Honor Self, Honor Creator, Honor All Life as Sacred.

Spiritual and Totem Insights for the Day the Elephant

Well gently nudging me today is Elephant, and yes I said gently nudging. It is a day we all need to embrace and honor Family. I love Elephants, they teach us so much in the way they manage relationships, family, and yes their little ones. So wake up and honor those you lean on, count on, vent to and perhaps show them back a little kindness today and share some positive emotion towards them and those that walk within your life circle!

Elephant to remind all of us how to define family. Family is often more than merely born into or shared genetics. And it is time to acknowledge our spiritual families and people that mean the most to us. it is time to look at self and remember where our loyalty should lie, who it is that supports us and is there effortlessly. It is time to get in touch with our inner child and our inner elder, for we have been taught much but due to the chaos of days, it has been often set aside.

So Elephant tells us to honor relationships, the ones that have imprinted on our souls… the ones we wish we coulda, shoulda, woulda… said or shown gratitude for and throw some tobacco, a prayer to the Sacred Winds for what was not. Balance the debt even if it is in what seems like a small way.

Elephant brings with it determination and loyalty that are needed to walk through our human. Not to give up easily for if we stay the course smartly, our goals will be met. Elephant reminds us all we must look after ourselves first before can help others, and to follow our instincts they will show us where we need to go and what we need to nourish within our souls.

Family is an important aspect and to remember to focus on the very young and our Elders, it is our duty to care for both. Loyalty is another trait the Elephant brings out in us, reminding us ever so gently that sometimes we need to remain loyal in spite of difficult circumstances in all situations, for all will be made clear as we move ahead in positive steps.

Elephant communicates with its family intuitively and suggests that there is a memory that is being held on to tightly that needs to be let go, let go of the past, it is what has assisted us to this point, but needs to remain in the past.

Elephant is reminding us about gentleness, commitment, and communication for ourselves and all relationships in and about our own Sacred Hoops. That all of it is powerful medicine much needed as it helps us to keep relationships healthy.

Spiritual and Totem Insights for the Day the Beaver

So the Beaver stops in this day to teach and remind us that we need to look at our life and see what needs to be built, what needs to be rebuilt and what needs to be taken down allowing the waters and energy to once again flow through. Beavers are quite adept and seeing what is needed in situations and adapting their lives to make things work better, adding more positives and expelling the negatives. They also share with us at times it’s just better to let them go and move on rather than trying to rebuild leaving the old behind us. Then at other times their determination will also show through on things they will not let go of, and even though humans may tear it down, Beavers know what is best and will continue to rebuild knowing the lessons have not all been learned.

Beaver tells us to step outside the negative cycles and break them by moving through them in positive ways, respectful ways, with humility and gratefulness… the way our Ancestral Teachings were given to us… Keep to the honest and loving ways we were taught as young ones, find your compassion and humanity again and make it stronger.

Beaver shares that it is time to build our dreams into reality teaching us that we need to remember to rely on self, but in the process not to loose the sense of family that leads us to being an important part of community. Traditions and culture both help to build the strong foundations of who we are as individuals.

Do not be afraid to push and build your dreams into reality. Beaver reminds us to be creative, use the strong foundations that have been laid into place and grow from that. Expand your thoughts, your abilities enabling you to grow into a new sense of being. Clear the old and replace it with newer and stronger ties reinforcing who we are and where we came from.

Beaver will teach us if we allow it to, when to build up the walls to protect and rest, but also teaches us to remember to clean and change as we need to, flowing with the patterns of life. Adaptability so we do not get forced into situations we should not or do not want to be in. Always look at alternatives for there are many ways to go about things.

Beaver reminds us that it is good to be creative, to stay busy …but to also remember teamwork gets the job done quicker at times. So stop for a moment to catch your breath and look at what is going on in your life at the moment, and move forward in a positive way, utilizing all the tools and assets that have been placed in front of you, remembering that all parts of life are needed to do so.

Spiritual and Totem Insights for the Weekend Run!

Well apparently the Ancestors want us all to step it up and pay attention to how we are moving through the weekend! Pull 3 cards bear …pull 3 cards… doitdoitdoitdoitdoit! Okay already!  So here you guys go. So PAY CLOSE ATTENTION to the way you are moving through this upcoming weekend or I am sure I will be hearing about it on the other side of it hahahahhaha!

So the first card I picked was the White Buffalo and it is pushing through that we need to be honoring or very souls in a Sacred manner! We have been neglecting the who “I Am” as we have allowed the worlds chaos to push away what is important! The Ancestors teachings of Respect, Truth, Wisdom, Love, Humility, Courage and Honesty. So as we walk through the upcoming days keep those teachings foremost in front of our minds eye to strengthen our character and balance our walks!

The Second card that comes into play today is the Grouse!  It stops in to remind us all to Dance in Joy of the fact we are Alive!!! Feel the beauty around you in your life circles… even if you are in a low spot we must strive to keep our balance, simply look around you and find something that is a positive in your situations, it’s there we just have to look with eyes wide open!

Grouse dances in circles, speaking to us of cycles that we walk through on our paths, from birth to death transitions and on to rebirth. We all experience these, from the moment we take our first breath, it is called change. So the Grouse asks that we embrace those changes,,, and dance to the drumbeat of your own soul! Stand in your own power, revitalize your spirit, your human… dance and create, manifest what it is that you need to walk a more positive way on your own path. Don’t worry about what others are thinking or doing… concentrate on your own energy as you dance and place yourself in harmony and balance with body, mind and spirit.

The final card for this upcoming weekend is the Gull. The Gull is an amazing bird that most disregard as having purpose. Yet to understand the Gull is to respect and appreciate the bird as quite impressive. The Gull teaches us survival mode, which some situations may require us to deal with even in bad conditions or unpleasant ones in order to reach our true goals, our true dreams.

Gulls teach us to pay attention to Nature, and alert us to brewing storms that may be entering our lives. They are warriors sent by the Creator to cleanse negativity away allowing the positives to return and balance. Gull talks about communication and how it is important to sometimes open those lines of communication in responsible ways. They also teach us to look deep at the magical world around us, for all we need is at our fingertips or deep within our souls to be able to move through in positives on our human walk.

So with the help from the Ancestors and the amazing creatures that came forward for us all today…open to the possibilities and you will balance and feed your souls this weekend!

Spiritual and Totem Insights for the Day – the Koi

Koi filled my head this morning as it showed itself from the deck! Offering the one thought, if you can place it in your mind as thought and vision it can be accomplished! We Must simply believe in our selves! So often we think of things or want to attain a certain goal and it eludes us, why is that? Well mostly because we aren’t trying hard enough.

Koi suggests that life is not easy it is a path of learning and experiences, and yes that is what we are here for like it or not… is to experience and grow from it. It is once again presented as choice, we make the choice to move forward and overcome things, we make the choice to give up and whine about what we can not have… of course the path can be tough, yet again we have the ability to choose how we face and overcome! Remember as well that is why they are called “Obstacles” which is defined as a thing that blocks one’s way or prevents or hinders progress.

So Listen to the Wisdom shared today by the Koi, it is ancient and will help you to stop and be in the moment of the Day!

Koi shows up asking us to honor the past, the wisdom’s and teachings shared by the Ancestors. It is easy at times to forget and run ahead on the path, leaving the things that are important to us as we walk the human… yet we should be slowing down in order to be part of the beauty that is in life all around us. Treating each moment with respect and thankfulness. Life is a gift, but we need to remember that the balance of it lies within each of us, it is not someone else’s responsibility… it is our responsibility to walk in the highest good for all.

Koi speaks to us of being calm, peaceful and working together with each other in a state of Zen which places us in a state of enlightenment by direct intuition through meditation and/or prayer. When we are in this state, positives flow in and around us creating a healthier way of life.

The Koi fish brings to us prosperity and a path for new opportunities to show themselves to us. It is up to each of us to be open and aware in order to take advantage of them. Koi can assist us during meditation and altered states of mind in order to help us achieve healing and our full potentials by opening to the wisdom’s of “the Old Ones.” The colors can also be associated with various aspects and applied to our lives if we can again be open to what they share.

The black Koi brings transition into our lives.

The gold Koi brings prosperity which can represent the physical, the spiritual or represent monetary wealth that is being brought to our paths.

The platinum Koi brings to our lives success and puts new and beneficial opportunities at our doors.

White Koi that have red coloring only on their heads push us to be aware of positive movement within our lives and enables us to take advantage of them.

A white and red marked Koi is said be a blessing for well balanced relationships.

The Koi teach us to remember to honor all that is Sacred, to meditate and pray… to be thankful for all our many blessings large and small. To understand that our actions today will imprint for lifetimes just as it has for our Ancestor’s. So walk your paths wisely and ask for assistance from our Ancestor’s often.

the Snow Moon with bear Medicinewalker

I thought it was fitting since Grandmother Moon has been ever so playful of us as of late, keeping us on our toes and eyes wide open during her reign in our night skies, that I once again revisit the story of the Snow Moon. It has long been a favorite of mine and a story that delights the children as well as the child that dwells within. Yet it also holds valuable lessons of community, trust and working together. So I hope you can enjoy the story as much as I do telling and sharing it. Perhaps it will shine a little light in your life and illuminate your world to a better understanding of things….

As it was long ago and far to the north… winter nights were very long, dark and bitter cold. Nights were so long, dark and cold that all the Four Leggeds and their friends could barely gather enough food to survive the season. No matter how quickly they tried to gather nuts and seeds, the darkness covered them and stopped all their efforts. On such a day Squirrel decided that something had to be done. Her first stop would be a visit to her friends the field mice.

“Oh, we do not know what to do,” said Father Mouse. “We have so many children to feed, and the winter nights are so long and dark.”

“I will help you my little friends,” Squirrel replied.

Next Squirrel went to see Porcupine to ask him if he too had been having trouble finding food during the long dark winter.

“Oh, yes,” said Porcupine,“ nothing can be done it has always been this way.”

“I don’t believe that,” said Squirrel. “There must be something that can be done.”

“It’s best to leave things as they are for you never know what could happen if you try and change things,” said Porcupine. With a bristle of quills, he scurried off through wintery wind and snow.

Squirrel sat and thought for a bit and then decided to seek out Owl. Owl rested by day and flew the woods at night, with eyes bigger than all the other animals. Perhaps Owl would know a way to bring light to the winter forest.

Squirrel climbed high in Owl’s maple tree and waited for Owl to wake.

“What brings you to me Squirrel?” asked Owl.

“All of the small woodland animals need to hunt by darkness as well as day. The northern winter nights are far too dark for us. If we could only find a little light to help us see we could gather our food with ease”

Owl agreed to ponder on this problem. He lifted his feathery head and then buried it into his shoulders to think. He thought all day long, while Squirrel shivered on the windy branch. Finally, he startled with thought, “I will talk to the Sky Father and see if he can bring the stars closer to us during the winter time.”

Squirrel flicked her tail in excitement and hope as she raced down the tree to her spot in the woods. A few days went by and then Owl flew in and landed at Squirrel’s burrow.

“Tell our small friends that the Sky Father has decided he will bring the stars closer to us at night. But first, he must clear all the clouds from the sky. We must all prepare for a strong and terrible blizzard.” With that said, Owl flew off to his tree.

All the animals worked as quickly as they could to forage all the nuts, berries and seeds that they found. Then they gathered and huddled in a hollow log and watched as the huge storm clouds gathered in the sky above.

For three days the Sky Father gathered the storm clouds in the sky, stacking them in huge towers. The animals shivered below, waiting. On the third day, the storm arrived. The blizzard howled through the woods. The animals were frightened, all except Squirrel for she believed in what Owl had promised.
When the storm died away, a huge snowdrift had blocked the hollow log so that the animals could see nothing but the wall of snow and the darkness from inside the hollow space. They were scared and disappointed, thinking that only hunger and darkness awaited them.

Brave Little Squirrel made her way through all her friends and turned to them, “Wait here, I will tunnel out and see if the stars are closer as the Great Sky Father promised.”

Squirrel dug and dug, pushing through the cold and wet snow finally reaching the top. When her head popped out through the snow, she gasped in surprise. The winter stars hung so low in the evening sky, it seemed that she could almost touch them.

A large, antlered moose stepped forward and bowed his head, “I have been sent to help you, if you little animals can gather all the snow you can and push it into a giant snowball, I will then carry it cradled in my antlers across the highest mountain ridges, where it will shed light on even the darkest winter nights.”

So they all worked together with the help of the moose and the Sky Father to create the first Snow Moon. Now despite the cold and the long nights of darkness, all are happy in the winter when the stars come close and the moon shines bright like great snowball in the sky.
